VR-Gamification of an Art Museum
About
The acquisition of new knowledge can often be a daunting task. In order to counteract this, the focus of this project is to develop an application that facilitates the process of learning new information for individuals. To achieve this, a gamification approach has been selected, where the player can visit a virtual reality museum and subsequently learn about art in the field of painting. The aim is to stimulate the cognitive processes of the user by using playful elements and a tangible virtual environment, making it easier for them to retrieve information stored in their brain.
The application was developed as part of my Bachelor's thesis. Using the Unity engine and the OpenXR plugin, a VR application was created that resembles an art museum.
My Work
The project was solely implemented by me. This allowed me to learn a lot about Unity and the OpenXR plugin. Everything from player control to scripting and 3D modeling of assets, as well as research, was implemented by me.
Creating a highly polished product that excels both in usability and visual appeal was a top priority for me. Additionally, I placed significant emphasis on ensuring that the application is compatible with as many VR headsets as possible to reach a wider audience.
